Another weekend gone by...

You may remember a few months ago several fathers and sons from church helped serve at our mother/daughter banquet—on the condition that we ladies would do the same for them at their banquet. This past weekend, we ladies returned the favor.:-)



This banquet was actually a late Father’s Day celebration in honor of all the fathers in our church. Each father who had no son could “adopt” one for the night. So Dad “adopted” three young men in the church whose fathers were not able to be present. It was so funny to see these Filipinos guys calling our Dad “Daddy” for the night. They had fun pretending to be his sons. Sorry we didn't get a good picture of Dad and his "sons."



As you may have noticed from these pictures, our church nursery became the general food station for the night. It is one of the few rooms with AC and the most convenient room for serving the food. At one point during the evening, Mrs. Quinlan walked into the nursery and started laughing, as she saw several of us mothers and daughters taking pictures of one another after only one round of waiting on tables. She said jokingly, “Ladies, why are you in here taking pictures? You’re supposed to be taking pictures out there!”

Hmmm....looks like we need more help cutting the cake. ;-)

It was a memorable night for both the men and the women. All of the mothers and daughters had just as much fun helping with the banquet as the 100 or so fathers and sons did in attending it.

On Saturday we invited three girls (Len, Riza, and Mai) from church over to spend the night. These three have been wonderful friends, and we wanted to spend some personal time with them before we leave the country.

These girls are actually cousins, but they seem like sisters! It’s so funny to watch them teasingly and lovingly interact with each other when they are together. They are so different from one another yet they are so sweet and so close to each other.

Mai is very outgoing, artistic, and so sweet. Len is a lovable, caring, and has a calm personality. Riza is always full of smiles, encouragement, and loves to visit.  Their love for each other reminds us of how special God’s gift of family really is and what a joy our family members can bring into our lives.

We are really going to miss these girls. They have not only been a source of joy in our life, but more importantly, they been a source of spiritual encouragement. It is so wonderful to see how God is using each one of them for His glory in the avenues that He has placed them. We love them so much!
