Dad was so excited to find that his presents were some of his favorite snacks!:-)
On Tuesday (Oct. 28), Dad added one more candle to his birthday cake (or in this case, his birthday pie).:-) Even though it was just our family, we enjoyed preparing a small birthday celebration for him and making him feel special.
We tried to make our house look as festive as possible with the little décor and decorations that we brought with us. After searching through our closets and several boxes, we finally found enough colored streamers to decorate the kitchen.:-)
We girls and mom planned to start off Dad’s evening by surprising him with a shower of confetti as soon as he walked in from a long day at work. It was quite humorous how excited we got over such a small surprise!
Before Dad even arrived home from work, we could feel our excitement growing—especially as we watched and waited for Dad’s approaching car. Every time we saw a vehicle driving down the street in front of our house, we frantically dashed into our hiding places…only to realize that it was not dad but rather a neighbor passing by. Haha! Sometimes the best part about surprises is the time right before they actually happen!
Eventually, Dad came home, and we had so much fun surprising him with his birthday “shower.” :-) The rest of the evening, we enjoyed one of Dad’s favorite birthday dinners (meatloaf, mashed potatoes, and pecan pie) and had a great time recalling some of our memorable birthdays from the past.:-) We are so thankful for the Lord giving us the world’s greatest Dad!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DAD!
