God's Handiwork On Display

*Deep breath* Ah! Inhale the fresh air, feel the smooth sand in between your toes, and listen to the waves wash against the sandy shore. Imagine all this as you gaze at a vivid sunset, and you’ve pictured the highlight of our most recent vacation. :-)

This past week, we seized the opportunity to visit a nearby beach and enjoy some family time together. This resort was only about 2-3 hours from us in the province of Bataan (This was the same province where WWII soldiers fought as well as where the Bataan Death March occurred. On our way home, we had the opportunity to visit a memorial of those who fought in the war.).

Fortunately, we drove to this resort before nighttime. Otherwise, no telling where we would have ended up! Locating anything in the Philippines in the dark (Including the country’s international airport, which took us 2 extra hours to find when we left the country in August!) is extremely challenging for us foreigners—especially considering the lack of road signs and streetlights. :-)

After much backtracking and driving through dirt farm roads along the coast, we eventually made it to the Montemar resort. With the exception of the resorts’ staff and some occasional guests, we pretty much had the grounds to ourselves! We loved the peace and quiet that came with vacationing outside of holiday season. That was probably as close as we will get to a private beach. :-)

Aside from other small activities such as racing along the sandy beach and collecting unique seashells, the majority of this trip consisted of rest and relaxation.:-)

Certainly, our memorable moments from this trip involved the times when we lined up our chairs along the sandy beach and gazed at the sunsets together. It was very relaxing to listen to the quiet waves, play with the cool sand under our toes, and view the sun setting beneath the colored sky.

As we sat along the beach in the evenings together, we sang songs, tried to measure the distance the sun sank every few minutes, and simply sat mesmerized by the painted sky. We truly enjoyed the memories we created as we observed God’s handiwork on display all the way from the intricate seashells to the immensely painted sunsets.:-)

wow, you saw Bataan! cool - I've read a couple of books about the Bataan death march, and want to see the area someday.

Smiles from MN!
