“But now faith, hope, love, abide these three; but the greatest of these is love.” I Corinthians 13:13
Warm smiles, welcoming handshakes, and the radiating love of Christ illustrate the church body that we visited for our Sunday service. For this morning’s church service, we attended a reformed Baptist church called Moonwalk Community Bible Church.
From the moment we arrived, our Filipino brothers and sisters in Christ warmly greeted us and welcomed our family. Consisting of about 80 to 100 members, the Moonwalk Community Bible Church was started around twenty years ago by an American missionary family from New Jersey, USA.
Although the church has several pastors, this morning a visiting pastor gave the message. While most of sermon was in Tagalog, the preacher graciously gave his key points in English. We Feenys were extremely grateful for that! :-) Thankfully, we were able to understand the songs and Scripture readings, which were in English—the educational language in the Philippines.
Following the service, several members came up to us and introduced themselves. Each one of them expressed the sincere love of Christ as well as gracious hospitality. As we mingled and visited with the members from the church body, they insisted that we join them in their church luncheon. Their genuine desire for us to stay and eat with them showed their interest in getting to know us and make us feel at home.
The entire morning, our Filipino brothers and sisters caused us to feel so much apart of their church with their smiles, desire to see us again, and Christ-like love. We observed the light of Christ through their countenance and character.
