Last Wednesday night, the girls told us ahead of time to be ready for a surprise. As soon as I got home from work, I was informed we would be having a candlelight dinner on the small balcony outside our bedrooms. From the time we moved into this house, the girls thought it would be so fun to have dinner on the balcony (since we have never had a balcony before).
The girls did such a wonderful job preparing the evening and setting a romantic atmosphere resembling a nice Italian restaurant, which included background music (Venice, Italy), candles on the ledge, plants around us, and a nicely decorated table with candles and name cards.
One at a time, the girls brought us our tasty dinner courses, which consisted of a green mango salad, Phad Thai dish for the main entrée, and a fruit and ice cream layered dessert. During the course of the meal, Cynthia and I were able to catch up on the latest gossip about each of you and other family topics. (Haha! Just kidding). Actually we enjoyed a nice slow conversation as we talked about some of the adjustments we have made as a family while living in the Filipino culture. :-)
As we sat around our candlelit table, we saw a beautiful view of the special features that God added to our dinner: a striking full moon just above Mt. Arayat off in the distance and visible stars overhead. We were even surprised with some distant fireworks going off near Mt. Arayat. “WOW! What a wonderful atmosphere!”Cynthia and I both appreciated the girls doing something special for their mom and dad.:-) It was a wonderful surprise. We might just have to make another visit to this Moonlit Café again.:-)
