More Time With Our Church Friends

Anytime we have attended a social event here in the Philippines, we found out that there is always singing, games, and laughter. :-) When we attended our church’s monthly ladies fellowship this week, we enjoyed all three of these aspects.

Every month, the ladies of our church organize a mother-daughter fellowship, where we all get together for a time filled with singing, devotions, games, prayer, testimony, and special music. These monthly fellowships have been a good opportunity for us to get to know more mothers and daughters in our church.

Since this week was our second time to attend the monthly fellowships (our first was in December), we Feenys were surprised when they asked us to do the music special this month. Filipinos really enjoy music and include singing at almost every social gathering.:-)

After searching through some songs, we chose the hymn “There is a Redeemer.” Mom and Sarah both sang, while Melissa and Meagan accompanied with the flute and piano. The ladies were all so kind and appreciated the music special—even with an out-of-tune piano and street noises that poured through the open windows. ;-) It was a good opportunity for us to remember to just have fun—no matter the circumstance—and to play for the Lord. :-)

Karen, a young lady in the church, gave the devotion about Obedience to the Lord. Also, another lady gave her testimony about what God did in her life through Mountain View Baptist Bible Church. It is always encouraging to hear what God has done and is doing in the lives of others. We were reminded of a quote we once heard, “A message from a mind reaches a mind, a message from a heart reaches a heart, and a message from a life reaches a life.”

Later in the evening was game time! We all divided into teams and participated in an activity that was similar to the game of Telephone. :-) Instead of passing along a random phrase, we whispered Bible references down the line, and the last person in line looked up that verse.

We all had a great time, despite the moments when we forgot or “butchered” the reference that we were supposed to pass on.;-) Filipinos are always so enjoyable to be around and love to have a good time.:-) Smiles and laughter accurately describe the Filipinos.

Our Lord has conquered the sting of Death. He is alive! Let’s thank Him, praise Him, and share His good news with others this Easter.:-)
