In honor of our amazing mothers, the ladies in our church organized a special Mother-Daughter Banquet around Mother’s Day. Everyone had such an enjoyable time planning and preparing for it as well as attending it! Even the fathers and sons had a chance to participate by serving the food at the banquet.:-)
Everyone was invited to come, but those who attended the banquet were required to bring their mother or daughter(s) with them. However, many of those in our church came from faraway provinces, leaving their families back home. So, our Pastor’s wife came up with a solution: Those who did not have a mother or daughter living near them could simply “adopt” one for the evening. (Either from church or invite a friend.)
So, we had many new pairs of mothers and daughters at the banquet. Mom adopted about 5 girls, and several other mothers adopted a few of us Feeny girls as well.:-)
The night of the banquet, around 150 mothers and daughters showed up for an evening of games, singing, and devotions. Each and every one of us appreciated how the fathers and sons (about 30 of them) willingly giving up their evening in order to serve us all.
However, maybe it was not much of a sacrifice after all, because at the end of the banquet we discovered their true reason behind their service.... They had promised to serve at our banquet only if we would do the same for them at their Father-Son banquet in June. Of course, we ladies would be required not only to serve, but also to plan, prepare, and decorate for their banquet.
Wow! Quite a high price to have them serve at our banquet, don’t you think? Haha! Just kidding.:-) We really appreciated their help and look forward to returning the thanks by serving for them when their Father-Son banquet comes around next month.:-)

Sarah and Mom, the best mom in the world!:-) (By the way, incase you were curious about the colors and heart backgrounds, the theme of our banquet was "With All My Heart." Although, some were joking about trying to celebrate Valentines Day again! haha!)
Alexa, Luella, and Jervean were a few of Mom's adopted daughters for the evening. They had a great time!
One of the games was a contest to see which of the younger girls could fix their mom's hair up the most creative way. It was so cute to see how some of the girls (especially the one in this picture) loved this game!
It's a lot harder to feed someone when you're blindfolded than one may realize. Everyone loved watching this game (and participating it)!

Oh how sweet! It sounds like such a special and fun evening to celebrate mothers! I'll have to pass that idea along to our church! :)
